The situation
The musicians, who co-create and perform contemporary works by emerging composers, had started a development process in professionalism and cultural entrepreneurship. They recognised the need for a clear, distinctive identity – and a long-term vision to bring it to life.
The process
Green Room was brought in early to develop a plan that contributed to successfully securing initial funding. Building on that momentum, Marc launched strategic profile sessions to uncover the unique qualities and ambitions of Kluster5. The report offered recommendations and creative proposals for future strategy and communication.
From there, Marc collaborated closely with the design team as profile texts and visual identity concepts evolved in dialogue. Kluster5 remained an engaged, thoughtful partner throughout – challenging, contributing, and shaping the outcome. We love that!
The results
To convey the client’s values and working style, Marc wrote the Dive into Five manifesto – an unconventional entry point for their biography, seamlessly weaving biographical details into the broader narrative. Steering clear of limiting musical labels that would never capture the group’s essence, he introduced the tagline ‘We perform the soundtrack to your now’.
The ensemble’s image concept highlighted their dynamic formation and the visible joy they bring to performing. By revealing different facets of each of the five members – each a multi-instrumentalist – it offers a fresh approach to group photography.
The visual identity was inspired by key concepts like cluster, connection, clash, synergy, and the space in between. Typography, logo design, and a playful use of form established the foundation, further enhanced by a bold colour palette.
At its core, the website functions as a project-based archive. It gives space to each project’s development and the collaboration with composers, becoming a point of reference. Green Room curated and edited all key content, while the design presents it in an engaging way, encouraging visitors to explore from one project to the next.
