The situation

The ICCR focuses on the musical and professional development of conductors, prioritising long-term growth over quick career launches. For a year, the designated winners are supported in shaping their own path, including coaching on artistic, business, and communication aspects.

The process

Once the six designated winners are selected, they are introduced to the full scope of the development programme. Green Room opens the journey with a keynote presentation – an inspiring kickoff that shares our approach to shaping conductor profiles. It is the moment each conductor begins identifying the topics that matter most to them.

Our tailored coaching builds on proven frameworks, often starting with tools like a SWOT analysis or an in-depth review of their online presence. This includes practical feedback on their press kit, website, YouTube channel, and use of social media.

The results

Because the coaching is highly personal, outcomes can range from strategic insights around artistic identity to hands-on advice about communication. In past collaborations, this has led to newly crafted biographies, guidance for photo and video shoots, fresh promotional imagery, and alternative functional designs for websites with more engaging storytelling.

‘Marc is a vital part of our career development programme. He is an excellent listener and asks insightful follow-up questions. This enables him to identify each individual’s distinctive qualities and translate them into a personalised communication strategy.’
Rob Hilberink — Executive Director International Conducting Competition Rotterdam
